Rausch Creek 8-24-11

A couple guys from out here, Eric and Red, and Melissa went out wheeling last Wednesday. Took it kinda easy in the morning to see how the buggy would do. We ran a decent amount of trails see if I can remember them.

Race connector, CV, Yellow jacket, trail8, Cemetary backwards, every line on Tombstone, Boothill, 22, Roxy's way, the quarry and Shoot the moon. Eric pretty much went right up, I, well didnt... my extra width put me in an odd spot where I had to pop up a rock. I got up the rock but slid back down cause my rear DS twisted off. It was stock tubing so not really surprised. I backed down and started pulling the DS while Eric and the Ginger ran the rest.

Headed back and swapped a yoke on the square shaft that a buddy of Eric's gave him and hit the trails again. Besides for the DS twisting off it was a pretty good day. The best part was that we were the only ones in the park all day! Only other issue was my ram tie rod mount slide once and the heims on the tie rod came loose a few times.

Other issues I found afterwords is I must have bottomed out my right rear shock really hard at some point which bent the hell out of my shock mounts that then pushed up into the bottom of my fuel cell and messed up its mounts as well. The rear tcase seems to be leaking oil from somewhere now too. It was also discussed just tonight that my front end bounces around a lot when climbing. It was pointed out that my rancho shocks are twin tube and the cans need to be mounted down. Mono tube/floating piston shocks can be mounted in either direction. So I will be flipping those around and see if it is any better. My clutch needs to be adjusted again. Last but not least, rear diff cover NEEDS to be changed out. One run and the stock one is already peeled away and leaking. I will be building some new driveshafts here in a few weeks probably, address the few issues and head out again. Overall, I'm very happy.

Its not AZ wheeling but it is still fun. RC is a 2.5 hr haul, no worse than going to FJ or LC. Only bad thing, it cost me 70$ total for just the one day, driver and pass fees. Now that I know the truck works I will be picking up a season pass that is good for a yr and costs 325$. Wheel just 5 days and the rest are free.

Oh and the engine ran like a dream, all the power I wanted and then some, as you can see with the driveshaft :boobies:

Rick, that truck is pretty badass..Narrowed 60/14bolt, 3 link front w/coilovers, 4 link rear w/coilovers, new sticky treps with KMC beadlocks, narrowed front end sheetmetal, nicely done exo, still has full doors and a heater for winter wheeling. He's on pirate quite abit as Roktoy IIRC.
