Vail Cool Canyon

Unread postby Ashman » Sat Mar 17, 2012 7:58 pm

Took the neighbors out to show them what we call cool canyon and took some pictures, its a mild 4wd trail getting to the canyon but I need to keep scouting could be a good buggy only trail. Has potential to be drivable.

We took 3 quads, 2 Xps and the buggy.

Off the main wash my buggy was the only one that could keep going. Off to the left of the was is a kick ass rock slab that is driveable with a a good 5ft step at the top. I dont know where it loops around but it might drop into the cool canyon.

continuing in the main wash it dead ends at this HUGE vetrical waterfall, was really cool to see. only afew have seen this.

about 14 mile from my driveway. We were out for about 7 hours today exploring.

Badass, Cool Canyon really IS cool looking. Some of those spots look real tight but there are definitely some driveable lines. That fall you nosed up looks awesome. That area has to be raging during the monsoons.

You could do all that we did today in the Xj, alot of fun stuff to explore.

I need to spend some time and see where outlets meet other washes. We think there is a more direct drop in off 83 but havent tried it yet.

there was so much stuff out there that looked good but didnt end up producing much more then rather small sections. When me and john tried exploring the area, we made two trips in the range roover and two in the buggy's. we named one section (in a trail report) short and sweet there is another section for the pipe line that would be kick ass on your quads. If you ever make it up to oracle and orange groove bring me a blm ohv of the area south of i10 and ill map it for you. just bring it by the office at the motel

I just discovered this forum and joined a few minutes ago. We are retired and spend from Nov to May in Benson. This canyon looks very interesting and would like to know more about it. I tried to contact you, Ashman, but it didn't work. I'll try to work it out. My wife and I along with another couple with built Jeeps and Juggies are always looking for a new place to explore without having to haul the rigs up to TM or FJ.

I tried to get the neighbors to go to cool canyon this morning but they wussed out. I think its about a 40mile round trip from my house. Doing a night run tonight. 8pm-12 nice and cool with the rain and hail we just got.
