Overall a great weekend.

We all drove up Saturday AM, headed out of camp around 10Am with 5 rigs.
We did
Box canyon
Martinez Cabin
Martinez Canyon

Then Sunday three of us ran Elvis.

Most eventfull story is for Chad to tell.

Well it sure was eventful. I'll let Chad explain his part. Even though I was ridding shotgun I had a blast.

Here are some of my pics.

Yep, I had a pretty serious yard sale. On the Martinez canyon there's a section some other guys were calling the chute... basically, vertical dirt wall on both sides, pretty steep decline with a little step down over a rock in the middle and the whole thing is pitched to the left... I remember pulling down it and when I dropped off the little step my drivers side tire dug into the wall and I gassed it trying to push past to keep downward momentum, but with the nose so far down I guess I just dug in further and pivoted around and the rear end came around and then it was just the sound of sheet metal hitting dirt and the both of us trying to duck down into the middle of the cab while looking through the windshield we saw... dirt, sky, dirt, sky, dirt, sky. Fortunately, we landed back on our wheels with nothing more than some scrapes and bruises. One more roll and we'd have gone over the edge into a very deep ravine and probably wouldn't have been here to tell the story. So, a total of three rolls ending up back on our wheels. All of the guys jumped in collecting my junk and getting the rig drivable... Thank you all! I was obviously a little dazed and am a little sore today, but all in all very thankful to be here and in on piece!

Very glad you guys are still around to tell the story. I think I know the section you are talking about and the last time I took it 6 yrs ago it was really hairy, I can't imagine what it is like now. Thank god you guys were wearing belts as well.

Again, really glad you guys are ok.

How much work is it going to be to get the rig back together?

To everyone else, just another example of why wearing your belts are so important!

No more wheeling without cages Johnny. Glad to hear everyone is okay.

Well, the rig runs fine... I beat the roof up a little this morning and we ran Elvis with no issues. But the sheet metal is a total write off... I'm stripping the whole thing and tubing it out.

edit - oh, and I left my cable for my camera at work so I'll post some pics tomorrow.

The Luge strikes again...actually thats the bypass to the luge that is now closed off and gone. That section of trail is getting very dangerous. A TJ rolled off of there not three weeks ago and it was VJC. Totally destroyed the stock cage...

Glad everyone is ok. That's a scary spot no matter what you're driving, and guys if you don't have a cage...look at things like this, and think twice about building a cage before you buy anything else... It might just save you're ass someday.

After seeing Toby's stuck pic, its really good he didnt try to drive out of it. That could have gone really bad.

I guess I was the only one not to have a close call on the Martinez canyon. Its pretty dangerous for an easy trail.

Holy Crap Chad! As your well aware, that could have been a disaster. Don't screw around, spend a few extra bucks and make it out of DOM. :D

Looks like it was a good trip, but it's too bad the cabin is so trashed. It wasnt' that long ago that the Cabin was still pristine. I remember going when it still had all the glass and no bullet holes.
