Ash Canyon

Just got back from running Ash Canyon with the SV boys and their Toyotas. I figured I had to go down there and see what all the hype was about and this Ash Canyon trail which forced the invention of the "Tacama Link"(1-link). Cool trail, good day. Aaron broke a 35-spline 60 stub and a hydro steering line with the winch cable at some point while trying to get out. Other than that, just cruisin.

One of the best trail fixes I have seen. The crimped end of the hydro line broke. The fix Aaron came up with was to take the end of the crimp-on fitting, a 1/4" brabed hose coupler and cut it off at the flange in the middle, slide the end of the fitting over the barb, put the barb in the hose and hose clamp it. It worked quite well to get out.

Almost done

so the "broken" axle shaft on my buggy? yeah it isn't actually broken. it is solid as the day is long.

Well, that's GOOD news, don't really know why we didn't check it after the other side did the same thing :scratching:

update #3....

the hub was actually broken. the little metal spring in the engagement cap broke and wouldn't push in the thinger that engages the drive gears in the hub. so it would "look" locked, and "feel" locked, but it wasn't locked.

what sucks is that it would have been a simple 10 min trail fix. :wtf:

Such technical terminology there Aaron-"ouldn't push in the thinger that engages"

at least that should make you feel a little better, it was "Broke" and it could have been much worse. Is the passengerside OK? or have you checked it yet?

$500 rock looks worn down now and filled in?

Some years that dirt hole was ridiculous, other years just s diff eater.

$500 rock was still the same. Little easier getting to it this time though.
