asking for advice again

Unread postby Bad Andy » Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:02 pm

my jeep (94 yj 128k miles) makes two different clunk sounds. when i excelerate there is the first one. the second one is when i make a hard left turn. the first one i think is the drive shaft at the output of the xfer case. i went under to check and if you push/pull the shaft hard there is a little play at the output. is that nomal? the second i can feel in the steering wheel. i thought was drag link/tierod ball joints replced them. greesed the main ball joints. i am at point were i am stuck. is there anything else i should check or do? :scratching: any help would be great. thank you guys in advance for the help....... andy

If it makes the noise while accelerating, check your motor mounts and transfercase mount.

If you have changed the drag link and tie rod ends, check your upper and lower ball joints-jack up one side of the front end, lift up on the tire by hand and then do the same for the other side, maybe even check your wheel bearings.

Hard to diagnose over the wire but maybe this will help also.
